I verified my microphone is working correctly (I recorded my voice in Sound Recorder). I have tried to run the sound test from Game Voice, DXDIAG, and Control Panel/Sound.same results each time. No matter what I do I get two versions of dvpsetup.exe each time the sound test begins (and I can't use GameVoice until I get a complete sound test). Checked regedit and all values set back to 0.

Started to complete the test wizard and got the same 0x80004005 error as originally incurred. In DXDIAG I got a Pass for FullDuplex, Pass for HalfDuplex, and a "Failed Gracefully" for MicDetected. I disabled all programs in my startup tab.

I followed the advice in MS KB 810686 but every time I modify the registry values in steps 12-14, reboot, the modifications show they are changed, but once I try and run the Sound Test again, the DirectPlay Voice Setup fails and the registry values are reset to 0 (Full, Half, Mic).
